Belle Isle Park Annual Spring Clean-up

Hundreds of volunteers will roll up their sleeves in celebration of Earth Day

to rake leaves and remove trash and debris from Belle Isle Park during the island’s annual spring clean-

up event, held 8:00 a.m. to 1:00pm on Saturday, April 22 nd . New this year, Belle Isle will roll out its park-

wide anti-littering campaign “Keep Belle Isle Beautiful”.

Volunteers are asked to check-in and receive site assignments at 8:00 a.m. on the day of the event at the

Belle Isle Flynn Pavilion. Volunteers should dress for the weather – wear work boots and gloves and, if

possible, bring lawn rakes or any other preferred tools. Following clean-up efforts, there will be a

community celebration with music and a hotdog lunch at the Flynn Pavilion.

This event, coordinated together by the Michigan Department of Natural Resources and the Belle Isle

Conservancy, provides an opportunity for individuals, families, community groups and corporations to

contribute to the beautification of Belle Isle. Certificates for earned community service credit will be

awarded on site. Recreation passport requirements are waived for participants of Spring Clean-up.
