Eminem supports Detroit with charity auction

A online charity auction hosted by Eminem started Monday that will generate proceeds to benefit a Detroit charity

Slim Shady is auctioning off five Casio G-Shock watches, tickets to his Monster Tour shows with Rihanna and an autograph hat to support Detroit’s Focus; HOPE.

All proceeds from the auction are expected to support the charity. To place a bid, visit the Eminem auction ebay page.

The auction ends on May 29.

Eminem will go on The Monster Tour this summer with Rihanna for two shows in Detroit, two in New York and two in Los Angeles.

Both shows in Detroit will be held at Comerica Park, home of the Detroit Tigers.

Focus: HOPE provides food and basic services to seniors and families, and also educational programs and career training for the unemployed.

It also has been heavily involved in providing aide to help revitalize Detroit’s neighborhoods.

Eminem, who grew up in Warren and Detroit, has shown plenty of generosity over the years for charitable causes.

Wolverine Human Services CEO Judith Wollack told MLive.com last December that he has given more than $200,000 to the organization that helps needy children.

“I think Michiganders and Detroiters all love where we live and support what we do to bring out the best in our people and our cities,” said Wollack, who estimates that Eminem gave at least $105,000 to the charity in 2012. “We’re absolutely blown away by the support he’s given.”

An online fundraising campaign for Wolverines Human Services last year that was backed by Eminem raised $72,463 – an amount he agreed to match.
