BEGINNING OUR TENTH SEASON

SCOTT COOK: Edmonton, Alberta's own prairie balladeer Scott Cook is a tirelessly traveling songwriter with heart forever on sleeve. A lifelong wanderer, he brings honesty, humor, years of roads and a deep love of humanity to his songwriting and storytelling. His straight-talking tunes weave together folk, roots, blues and reggae influences, whether stripped down to fingerpicked acoustic guitar, banjo, ukulele, and foot percussion, or backed by his 5-piece band The Long Weekends. He has been making a full-time living at music since 2007, traveling the continent while living out of his van, and is currently touring in support of his third solo album, Moonlit Rambles.

"Basically, this is exactly the kind of act you'd be happy to stumble down the hill or through the birches and hear at a music festival... warm like a campfire, familiar like…”

BARB BARTON: Barb Barton plays guitar with fingers that first touched strings when she was five years old. Barton’s music comes from the nameless place that connects brain and heart. As a biologist, she might tell you the location does not exist. As a musician/songwriter, she knows right where it lives. And her music lands precisely on the X at the sweet spot. Think ear reiki. Close your eyes, imagine a soul massage. Picture a Lake Superior mirage. Drench your brain. Music for your heart. Count your senses. You sure you only have five? Now you’ve got Barton’s music.

ABOUT US

LookUpDetroit.com is offered to the Metro Detroit community as a gift, given out of a Christian motivation to serve others and reach out.  Here, with the help of the wider community we will post uplifting resources, web links, articles, listings, artists and events. This is a neighbor to neighbor, family friendly resource where the concentration is on many of the wonderful aspects in our Detroit Region.  As you explore the site, you'll find people, places, churches, nonprofit activities both metro wide and also in your own smaller community. Look at the many interests covered and think of contributing something through writing, photographs or videos.  Together, we can make this a very helpful web address for your neighbors and you to use and enjoy.  We have an invitation to do something significant together, to better connect our Metro Detroit communities.
