On May 5, 1974, the Free Press’ “Detroit” magazine published an essay by Jude Huetteman about bringing Martin Luther King Jr. to Grosse Pointe High School in March 1964. Heutteman, who passed away in 2014, was program chairwoman of the Human Relations Council in Grosse Pointe when she invited King to speak. It would be his last visit to Detroit.
