Grosse Ile Township is township in Wayne County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The township is coterminous with the island in the Detroit River called Grosse Ile. The name comes from French, meaning "large island". The population was 10,894 at the 2000 census. It is part of the collection of communities known as Downriver.
