What: Phil Keaggy, legendary guitar player and Christian music icon
When: Friday, February 19
Where: at The Stand in Oxford
There is a famous story about Phil Keaggy that has been handed down over the years that goes something like this: Jimi Hendrix was asked what it felt like to be the world’s greatest guitarist. The purported reply was, “I don’t know, why don’t you ask Phil Keaggy?”
Whether or not that exchange ever happened is not nearly as important as how many people believe it happened, people who would not have been a bit surprised at the answer. Phil Keaggy is that good of a guitar player.
Phil’s solo career has spanned more than 30 years, and has included over 50 solo albums, both vocal and instrumental, as well as 8 releases with his band, Glass Harp. One of the most sought after studio guitarists, Phil also continues to sell out concerts all over the United States, with his ever-changing style, ranging from rock-and-roll to fully orchestrated instrumental compositions.
The Stand, a brand-new concert venue in Oxford, is honored to present an evening with the legendary Phil Keaggy, an extraordinary artist in a once-in-a- lifetime concert event. It is rare to have the opportunity to present such an accomplished musician at this relativity new concert venue in Metro Detroit.
