It was an overriding theme from the Baseball Hall of Fame weekend in Cooperstown, N.Y. Even Detroit Tigers great Alan Trammell, who was finally bestowed with the game’s greatest honor, mentioned it in his induction speech on Sunday. “My whole career, I had been linked with one person,” Trammell said Sunday. “For 19 years, Lou Whitaker and I formed the longest running double-play combination in the history of baseball. I doubt that record will ever be broken. … For all those years, it was Lou and Tram.
