6th Annual People of Life Benefit Reception

with REV. JOHN J. RAPHAEL, SSJ

Fr. John Raphael, SSJ is a native of New Orleans, LA and a priest of St. Joseph’s Society of the Sacred Heart (Josephites).

Father John RaphaelFr. Raphael graduated from the University of Notre Dame with a B. A. in philosophy in 1989, and immediately after began studies for the priesthood. He received an M.A. in theology from DeSales School of Theology, and was ordained to the priesthood in 1995. Fr. Raphael has served as an assistant pastor, as Newman Club chaplain at Howard University, and currently as principal of St. Augustine High School in New Orleans (his alma mater).

Fr. Raphael has dedicated himself to bringing more African Americans into the prolife movement. He is chairman of the Josephite Pro-Life committee, and has sponsored regional workshops designed to bring a distinctly African American perspective to prolife work, and to raise the consciousness of African Americans regarding the genocidal dimensions of legalized abortion in their community. Fr. Raphael has accompanied parishioners, college students and now high school students to the annual Mass and Rally for Life in Washington, DC. As a high school principal, he believes that the youth are the most powerful witnesses for life and most open to embracing the Gospel of Life with full vigor.

The Right to Life of Michigan Educational Fund is honored to welcome Fr. John Raphael to the 6th Annual People of Life Benefit Reception.
