Volunteers Unveil New “Hearts of Remembrance” Design

Local nonprofit Arbor Hospice and The Arbor Hospice Foundation continue their observance of November’s National Hospice and Palliative Care Month with the unveiling of this year’s “Hearts of Remembrance” design.

The Arbor Hospice Foundation’s annual Hearts of Remembrance fundraising program was started by a handful of dedicated volunteers more than 20 years ago. Each year, 40 talented volunteers design, create and distribute thousands of hand-crafted keepsake hearts across southeast Michigan. The program provides vital funding and support for Arbor Hospice’s end-of-life hospice care and grief support services.

This year’s design features a beautiful outline of a tree with hand-sewn red and pink petals, and red heart-shaped bead accents.

The hearts are perfect as holiday ornaments, window hangings, enclosed in a greeting card, mailed with a note or simply hand-delivered to a family or friend in remembrance of a loved one.

There is no set price for the hearts. Instead, interested individuals are encouraged to make a donation in any amount they choose to honor their loved one.

“Making a donation to The Arbor Hospice Foundation through the Hearts of Remembrance program is the perfect way to remember the people who have touched your life,” said Heidi Grix, The Arbor Hospice Foundation’s Executive Director. “Whether it is a donation of $20 or $1,000, your gift will make a difference to the hundreds of people we care for every day.”

To make a contribution to the Hearts of Remembrance program and receive a handmade heart, or have one mailed to a friend or family member, call 734-794-5120 or visit  http://www.arborhospice.org/foundation-donation/hearts-of-remembrance.

Hearts are always on display and available at The Residence of Arbor Hospice at 2366 Oak Valley Drive in Ann Arbor.
