Another US Navy Blue Angel jet parks home in metro Detroit

Retired from the line of duty, a U.S. Navy Blue Angel jet arrived at the Yankee Air Museum at the Willow Run Airport Wednesday, where it will remain on display indefinitely.

The jet, an F/A-18C Hornet that traveled by road from Pensacola, Florida, is no stranger to metro Detroit as it was the lead aircraft for the Blue Angels during the 2017 Thunder Over Michigan Airshow.

The U.S. Navy Blue Angels are now flying F/A-18E Super Hornet jets, putting their F/A 18C jets to rest. The Yankee Air Museum is the last museum to receive a legacy Hornet jet.

The jet will be reassembled and on display by the weekend. The Yankee Air Museum is open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sundays. Tickets are $12 online and $15 in person.
