Martin Luther King Day Celebration Starring Miz Rosie

Monday, January 16 at 3 p.m.

Storyteller Rosie Chapman brings history to life with her reenactment of Harriet Tubman and the Underground Railroad.  Her performance includes audience participation and has thrilled children and adults all over the United States and around the world.

 

Release event with Elmore & Peter Leonard

Thursday, January 19 at 7 p.m.

Meet the authors. Join us at the Library for one of only three release events for Elmore Leonard’s latest novel. Raylan is the latest adventure of dedicated U.S. Deputy Marshall Raylan Givens, star of several novels and the hit television series “Justified”.  Peter Leonard is releasing Voices of the Dead.  Books will be available for purchase and signing at the event.  Pre-order with Book Beat at 248-968-1190.

 

Finding Timbuktu: Ancient African Kingdoms and the World

Sunday, January 22 at 2 p.m.

Dr. Jennifer Hart, Assistant Professor of History at Wayne State University will present on the history and influence of the ancient empires of Africa.  Join us for a fascinating discussion of this often forgotten part of history.  Call 248-554-4650 to register.

 

Cake Pops for Teens

Thursday, January 26 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

What’s better than cake? Cake on a stick of course! Cake Pops, a hot trend sweeping the country, are a small dessert on a stick made of cake, icing and candy that can be decorated however you wish. Chef Pam will be here at the Library showing you how to make your own cake pops. She will demonstrate how to design and creatively decorate your cake pops for eating and sharing.  Call 248-554-4650 to register.
