DIA goes green with Kermit puppet

It’ll be easy being green at the Detroit Institute of Arts for the next three months. The prototype Kermit the Frog puppet — created by Jim Henson from his mother’s discarded coat and a ping-pong ball for eyes — was donated to the DIA in 1971 and goes on display at 9 p.m. Friday, Jan. 17, through late March alongside an original 1947 Howdy Doody puppet. Call 313-833-7900 or visit dia.org.
