Ford Motor Co. delivered 1,500 face shields to Metro Detroit hospitals Thursday.
The automaker has been making FDA-approved masks to help health care workers as they battle coronavirus (COVID-19).
Karmanos Cancer Institute and Henry Ford Health Systems each received 250, while St. John Macomb-Oakland Hospital and VA Medical Center Ann Arbor each received 500.
On Tuesday, Henry Ford Health Systems, DMC Sinai-Grace, DMC Detroit Receiving Hospital and the University of Michigan received shields from the first batch, which contained 1,250 shields.

Person-to-person spread
The virus is thought to spread mainly from person-to-person.
- Between people who are in close contact with one another (within about 6 feet).
- Through respiratory droplets produced when an infected person coughs or sneezes.
These droplets can land in the mouths or noses of people who are nearby or possibly be inhaled into the lungs.
