Metro Detroit’s dining scene welcomes new restaurants, reopenings

Restaurants are still held to a 50% capacity cap, but plenty of them are seeing a light at the end of a very long tunnel with cases going down and vaccinations on the rise.

And now, as the warmer weather hits, more patios and outdoor seating areas are opening for outdoor dining, and it’s expected to grow exponentially.

Alchemi offering happy hour: Downtown Royal Oak’s farm-to-table restaurant, formerly known as Mr. B’s, has a new happy hour from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Thursdays. Menu specials include oysters on the half shell at $1.50 each or you can order a dozen with a chef’s choice bottle of bubbly for $30. Appetizers — Thai-style street ribs, duck skin crispy tacos, shrimp cocktail and mushroom arancini — are $8 each. There are a half-dozen drink specials for $8 each, including Johnny’s happy hour Manhattan and Dill Collins, served with fresh dill. 215 S. Main St., Royal Oak or alchemiroyaloak.com.
