“A genius”.
That is how the Detroit Lions new defensive tackle Mike Daniels referred to coach Matt Patricia in his first interview with his new team.
After reportedly drawing interest from 13 teams within an hour of being released by the Green Bay Packers, Daniels had a lot of options to weigh in where he would continue his stellar career, but chose Detroit for one primary reason:
“Coach Patricia. Straight up.”
When asked what about Patricia was so appealing, Daniels replied, “He’s a genius. He really is. He understands the game of football and what it takes. To be able to play for a coach like that, it means everything.”
