Music, promotions, treats to liven up Parker’s Alley on weekends

A host of businesses will be offering promotional deals, music, free pet services and treats in Parker’s Alley, the retail alley behind the Shinola Hotel in downtown Detroit, over the next few months starting this weekend.

On the first Friday of each month through October, retailers including clothing retailer Good Neighbor, juice maker Drought, vintage clothing seller Velvet Tower, ice cream shop Treat Dreams and Shinola will offer deals and promotions, according to a media advisory from Bedrock LLC, which manages the buildings.

Today, the Shinola store on Woodward Avenue will host performance poet and Detroit native Natasha “T” Miller, according to a media advisory. Miller will be signing and selling limited-edition posters of her “Detroit” poem and her performance is scheduled for 6 p.m.

The Shinola “Love Locks” that are on display in the alley, inspired by the Pont des Arts bridge in Paris, will also be available to purchase at the Shinola store, the advisory said.
