Pontiac hospital awarded top grade for patient safety

St. Joseph Mercy Oakland in Pontiac has been awarded an “A” ranking in patient safety from the Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grades organization.

Twice a year, the organization scores more than 2,600 acute-care hospitals across the U.S. using 28 measures of hospital safety data. The safety grades were designed under the guidance of a national panel of experts, according to the hospital.

“‘A’ hospitals show us their leadership is protecting patients from preventable medical harm and error,” Leah Binder, president and CEO of The Leapfrog Group, said. “It takes genuine commitment at every level – from clinicians to administrators to the board of directors – and we congratulate the teams who have worked so hard to earn this A.”

St. Joseph Mercy Livingston, St. Joseph Mercy Chelsea, Mercy Health Saint Mary’s and Mercy Health Muskegon campuses also received top scores for fall 2019.
