This Weekend The Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix – May 30 to June 1

The Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix presented by Lear is set to return to the streets of downtown Detroit from May 30 to June 1, 2025, marking the 35th edition of this iconic motorsport event. Held on a 1.645-mile, nine-turn temporary street circuit, the race will feature the NTT INDYCAR SERIES, the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship (including the GTP and GTD PRO classes), and the rising stars of racing in INDY NXT by Firestone. The Detroit Grand Prix’s history dates back to 1982 when it began as a Formula One race through the streets of downtown Detroit. In 1989, the event transitioned to a CART-sanctioned race and continued until 1991. After a hiatus, the race returned in 2007 on Belle Isle, with Chevrolet becoming the title sponsor in 2012. In 2023, the Grand Prix made its comeback to downtown Detroit, reviving the original street circuit layout. (Detroit Grand Prix)

Beyond the high-speed action on the track, the 2025 event promises a vibrant festival atmosphere with family-friendly activities. Fans can enjoy free fan zones, interactive displays, live music, and more throughout downtown Detroit. The event will also feature the Detroit Grand Prix Cruise Night on Friday, May 30, showcasing classic cars, hot rods, and muscle cars on the actual race circuit.
