Top 10 Cares program looks to rescue Detroit restaurants, feed people

When coronavirus hit, and shutdowns rocked metro Detroit’s dining industry, a crisis emerged that called for an innovative approach to addressing the needs of so many.

With the public’s help, the Detroit Free Press/Metro Detroit Chevy Dealers stepped up and delivered big.

Since its April 2020 inception, the Detroit Free Press/Metro Detroit Chevy Dealers Top 10 Cares Rescue Detroit Restaurants + Feed the Community has raised nearly $500,000 in total to provide more than 23,000 meals to front-line health care workers and community members in need, all while supporting restaurants struggling to stay afloat.

The initiative recently set out to raise a third and final round of funding to feed those in need while supporting local restaurants hard hit during the coronavirus pandemic. Nearly $95,000 was raised thanks in large part to a $50,000 donation from Sean and Shery Cotton.
