Oakland Mall Helps Moms in Detroit with a Facebook Fundraising Challenge

TROY, Mich., April 21, 2011 /PRNewswire/ — Oakland Mall is using social networking as a tool to get shoppers involved this Mother’s Day to benefit Moms at Detroit Rescue Mission Ministries (DRMM), a non-profit agency dedicated to assisting the homeless and getting them back on their feet.

From now thru Mother’s Day if you “like” Oakland Mall on Facebook, Oakland Mall and its stores will donate money, gift cards, and much needed items to DRMM. The value of the donation will be based on the number of “likes” Oakland Mall receives. Shoppers can also donate items by dropping them off at the Information Center located on the lower level of the shopping center near JCPenney.

Detroit Rescue Mission Ministries is committed to providing hope to the abused, disadvantaged, and homeless men, women and children of our community by “rebuilding one life at a time.” Oakland Mall’s stores are specifically concentrating on helping the charities’ women get much needed clothing, housewares, and back to work makeovers and attire.  With just “one click” Metro Detroit Facebook users can make a difference in these women’s lives.  A list of donation items and more information can be found on www.oaklandmall.com

Oakland Mall is located on the northwest corner of John R and 14 Mile Road and is open from 10 am – 9 pm Monday through Saturday and 11 am – 6 pm on Sunday. Visit www.oaklandmall.com for more information.
